Do you say HELLO to people as they p by?

I may not make a point of saying "Hello" but if thay spoke would say speak back. If we made eye contact and thay did not speak I would just give them a friendly "node of my head". And I would do that no mater where I was (hiking, shopping etc...) I would feel rude and unfriendly if I don't.
