How would I test hardness of gelatin for a science experiment?

I am doing a science experiment for 8th grade. I am going to test the strength a gelatin becomes with certain additives, but my science teacher suggested maybe I could additonally test the hardness of the gelatin with the certain additives. Does anyone have any suggestions on how I could test the hardness?
